Maritza Sayalero -Miss Venezuela and Miss Universe 1979

In 1979, she participated in Miss Venezuela, along with other 15 girls that would conform the Group of candidates from that Edition. The final was held on Thursday, May 16 at the great Hall of the Caracas Hilton Hotel, after the three parades of rigour, the jury composed of various personalities, issued its decision, in which Maritza born, Miss Vargas, turned out to be the chosen candidate to represent her country in the upcoming Miss Universe pageant.Sayalero came to Miss Universo's contest 1979, escenificado on the Perth Entertainment Centre, on Perth, Australia, on July 20 of this year. They competed for a total of 75 girls, from different countries of the world. The excellent preparation that had, was the key to obtain the victory and that way, for the first time, a Venezuelan was turning into the winner of the maximum sceptre of world beauty.
